Safety Statement

Voyager Study Abroad oversees credit-bearing, international experiences for undergraduate students. We place the utmost importance on the safety, security, and well-being of students participating our programs abroad.

While abroad, our students are exposed to new cultures and the associated opportunities and risks of unfamiliar environments. Voyager Study Abroad professors and staff are available and onsite 24/7. A safety orientation is provided the first day of the program. Additional orientations are provided in each new city.

We monitor the security and safety situation, including COVID – 19, in the countries and cities we visit. We scrutinize information from pertinent sources, including:

  • U.S. Overseas Security Advisory Council
  • Travel Alerts from the European Union, Canada, Australia, and UK
  • Local Embassies and Government Agencies
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Students receive health insurance for the duration of the program (included in program fee).First-aid supplies are carried by appropriate program staff from city-to-city. Program staff will provide health and safety information to students, direct them to further resources when necessary, and address health and safety-related issues.

Our staff remains a resource to students before, during, and after the program. We emphasize to students the importance of staying with the program and only participating in program-sanctioned activities. During free time, students are counseled to be cautious and take personal responsibility for their own safety, security, and well-being. Students are encouraged to always stay in groups with other program participants. Only program participants are allowed in other participants’ rooms in the residence and accommodations. Professors and staff are onsite at all accommodations and accompany students on all program-related activities.

Although no one can guarantee a student's safety, security, and well-being at home or abroad, we take active measures to mitigate risk and ensure that students make the most of their experience. We require that students carefully read the Student Handbook provided prior to departure to Europe. There are several health and safety-related guidelines in the Student Handbook that must be adhered to and waivers that must be signed prior to the start of the program.
